History[]
Beignet's family have been bakers ever since her grandmother's generation, passing on their signature flavor across the ages and many shops.
Long ago, when Beignet was a young woman, she visited Japan to see a sweets shop with a long storied history to it. There, she met a young man who was the heir to the shop, and fell in love at first sight. They married, and eventually went on to have a son. Fascinated by her cakes and the smiles they brought, her child always referred to her as "the sun."
However, her happiness wasn't meant to last. Her eldest brother, who was set to inherit the business, died prematurely without an heir, leaving no capable youth to inherit the family business or flavor. Torn between her two families, Beignet was forced to go back to France. Her husband was understanding, but she left her son behind, unwilling to poach the hope of another family's legacy. Coming home to heaps of debt, Beignet was forced to give up her family's various holdings, ending up with only one bakery, whose name even was lost to debt repayment. Starting anew, she translated her son's words from so long ago, and named her bakery "La Soleil". Inheriting the flavor her family passed down, she at least managed to keep afloat, and make her patisserie a renowned name among those in the know. But she never managed to reconnect with her son, the only correspondence from Japan being a message that her husband had passed away.
